Sands Organisation

WQC was approached this year to make a quilt for the Sands Organisation.  Families who have lost a baby can put a little piece on the quilt and the current quilt was full.
From the Sands Website http://www.sands.org.nz/
Welcome to Sands New Zealand. We are a voluntary, parent-run, non-profit organisation set up to support parents and families who have experienced the death of a baby at any stage during pregnancy, as a baby or infant.
Glenda on the left presented the quilt that she and some other WQC members
designed and made for Sands New Zealand.  See July post for a closer photo
of the quilt and label.
From Glenda
I attended the Women's Assessment Unit at Auckland Hospital yesterday morning when the quilt was officially presented to the hospital and everyone was most complimentary about the quilt.  They loved the design and the New Zealand connection with the fabrics used, and certainly appreciated all the hard work that went into making it.  They referred to the feature of the quilt as a family tree which I thought was really nice.

November Meeting 2014

November is the Christmas meeting for WQC.
The members were asked to make Christmas stockings and Christmas tree decorations for the Salvation Army.  They were spread along the stage.
